Best home remedies for EARACHE | Top home remedies for EARACHE

Earaches are often regarded minor nuisance but still sometimes  Ear pain can feel unbearable, making it difficult to sleep, eat, or do anything but think about the pain. Many children find it particularly difficult to deal with an earache.
Here is an overview of traditional approaches to treatment, plus everything you need to know about at-home remedies. So let's take a look at the HOME REMEDIES FOR EARACHES.

1) TRY TO KEEP EAR DRY

The first and foremost thing is to keep your ear dry if there is any kind of discharge coming out of the Ear.
There may be a perforation in the Tympanic membrane or commonly called EAR DRUM. Putting something in the ear while some discharge is coming out may lead to infections.

2) APPLY HOT COMPRESS

Heat from an electric heating pad or hot pack can reduce inflammation and pain in the ear.
Apply a hot pad to the ear for 20 minutes. For best results, people should touch the neck and throat with the hot pad.

The heating pad should not be unbearably hot. People should never fall asleep with a heating pad, or allow a child to use a hot pack without adult supervision.

3) APPLY COLD COMPRESS

A cold pack can help with the pain of an earache.

Try wrapping ice in paper towels or freezing a cold pack and then covering it with a light cloth. Hold this to the ear and the area immediately under the ear for 20 minutes.

The cold should not hurt, and parents should never apply ice directly to their children's skin.

Some people find that heat offers greater relief than cold. For others, alternating hot and cold packs (20 minutes hot, followed by 20 minutes cold) provides the best pain relief.

4) MASSAGE GENTLY

One of the best way is to massage gently. Doing massage can help drain the fluid from ear and and prevent pain from getting worse.

Using a downward motion, apply pressure beginning just behind the ears and down the neck.
Continuing to apply pressure downward, work forward to the front of the ears.

5) USE A CHEWING GUM

Chewing a chewing gum may seem a bit awkward for earache but let me tell you chewing gum helps releasing excess pressure present in the eustachian tube which may help releasing pain.

6) GARLIC

Garlic has both antibiotic and pain-relieving properties. Soak crushed garlic for several minutes in warm olive or sesame oil. Strain the garlic out and apply the oil into the ear canal.

7)  USE OF OLIVE OIL or MUSTARD OIL

The use of olive oil for earaches is a folk remedy. Just put a few drops of lukewarm oil in each ear . The warm oil helps in vasodilation and increasing blood supply, reducing the pain and even if there is some impacted wax , it softens the wax for its easy removal.

These home remedies are totally safe to use but if the pain still persists then it is better to see a ENT specialist.
